Liz Mackean was best known on Newsnight for her coverage of Northern Ireland issues. She also won the Daniel Pearl Award for Outstanding International Investigation for a series of exclusive reports on toxic dumping in Ivory Coast. Then the BBC decided not to run her story about Jimmy Savile which included the first on camera interview with one of his victims. The rest is still making history.
Unusually Liz won a London Press Club Scoop of the Year award for the Savile story. It might not have run on the BBC but the judges recognised her and her colleague’s “splendid piece of work” in trying to get the story heard.
During her BBC career, Liz presented and reported on many radio and television programmes, including Breakfast News and Daily Politics.
Liz is an authoritative and lively conference host and events facilitator. No function flags or fails to run to time. Clients include the Home Office and Department of Health.
She’s also run a series of webinars for Dun and Bradstreet on the impact of the credit crunch on world economies.
