Frankie Boyle catapulted onto the comedy scene by winning the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award back in 1996. Since then, the Glaswegian’s trademark quick fire delivery of often controversial humour has established him as one of the hottest names in comedy.
Well known for his role as a panellist on comedy show Mock the Week he has also appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News For You, You Have Been Watching, Would I Lie to You? and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
He left Mock the Week in October 2009 to write and host his own typically uncompromising show Frankie Boyle’s Tramadol Nights. In September 2012 his one-off special The Boyle Variety Performance transmitted on Channel 4. An alternative to The Royal Variety Performance, it featured stand-up comedians and musical guests with Frankie as host of the show.
Frankie has enjoyed three sell-out nationwide tours culminating in arena dates, the most recent being The Last Days of Sodom. The tours have all been recorded and released on DVD. His first DVD, Frankie Boyle Live, was the second fastest selling debut stand-up release, selling just under 16,000 copies on its first day.
His autobiography My Shit Life So Far, published in 2009, made it onto the Times Bestseller List. His second book Work! Consume! Die! was released in 2011. He also writes a weekly column for The Sun, offering an acerbic take on the latest news and events.
