Laura Dodsworth’s latest book, the Sunday Times best-seller, A State of Fear: How the UK government weaponised fear during the Covid-19 pandemic was published on the 17th May 2021 and sold out completely in its first week. Meticulously researched it tells the inside story of how behavioural techniques used by the UK Government at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic were employed to create what has been described as ‘one of the most frightened countries in the world’.
Laura interviewed politicians, lawyers, civil rights experts, scientists, behavioural psychologists, sociologists, doctors, journalists, and, people impacted by fear. Amongst those interviewed were a number of SPI-B advisors plus government and Whitehall insiders who remain anonymous in the book.
Reviewing A State of Fear Former Supreme Justice Lord Jonathan Sumption wrote: ‘This is an important book. The use of fear as a tool of political management is a major challenge to democracy which every one should reflect upon, whatever their view about lockdowns and Covid-19′.
