Eve Pollard

Eve Pollard is a legendary Fleet Street figure and the second women editor of a national newspaper in modern times. Her interest in journalism was sparked whilst at school and her first job, as tea girl at the magazine Honey was the platform for her meteoric rise through the then male dominated world of Fleet Street. She joined the Daily Mirror in 1968 and ultimately became editor of the Sunday Mirror in 1987 and the Sunday Express in 1991.

In 1985 she was editor-in-chief at the launch of ELLE magazine and edited the Sunday magazine for the News of the World and the Mail on Sunday You magazine. Eve also enjoyed a short stint as features editor of TV-am in the early 80’s.

Eve Pollard is the author of a best-selling book on the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and has written four books including Splash, Best of Enemies, Double Trouble and Unfinished Business.

In 1999 she was appointed as a member of the Competition Commission’s Newspaper Takeover Panel. She is a trustee of the women’s health charity Wellbeing of Women and was honoured in 2008 with an OBE for her services to journalism. Her most recent venture is a range of dresses for older women called EveAtDonna.
