John Edge

Working in New York and London, John Edge is an entrepreneur specialising in financial technology and digital identity including trusted computing, blockchain, and artificial intelligence. He is currently focused on the development of Web 3.0 enabled markets and the application of confidential computing in data asset finance. John is expert in digital value transfer.

Formerly Head of Electronic Client Solutions at JP Morgan. John is working currently with the World Bank on micro-finance initiatives designed to benefit the poorest and the most vulnerable. John is also dedicated to the long-term project to bring digital legal identity to all including birth registration by 2030.

John Edge holds academic appointments as a Connection Science Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and as a visiting Fellow at Oxford University. He is the co-founder of ID2020, a global public-private alliance championing individuals’ rights to privacy and access to decentralized technologies, and Chairman Emeritus of the Whitechapel Think Tank, a collaborative forum at the forefront of global innovation in distributed ledger technologies. John Edge holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds.
