Dambisa Moyo

Dambisa Moyo

Dr Dambisa Moyo is an economist and author who analyzes the macroeconomy and international affairs. She advises companies, corporate boards, CEOs and management on investment decisions, capital allocation and risk management. She has a deep knowledge on the inherent conflicts facing developed and emerging economies, and the interaction between politics, international finance and global markets.

Moyo has written several bestselling books. In Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa she explains why millions of people are actually poorer because of aid, unable to escape corruption and reduced, in the West’s eyes, to a childlike state of beggary. She calls for the West to phase out traditional aid programmes, to be replaced with the Chinese development model which focuses on trade and direct investment.

Her latest title: Winner Take All: China’s Rush for Resources and What it Means to us, cuts through misconceptions surrounding resource scarcity by examining the operations of commodity markets and the geopolitical shifts they have triggered. It reveals a race for global resources in which China is way out in front.

Moyo completed a PhD in economics at Oxford University and holds a Masters degree from Harvard University. She has an undergraduate degree in chemistry and an MBA in finance from the American University in Washington, D.C.

Always up to date. Often controversial, Dr Dambisa Moyo discusses some of the biggest financial challenges currently facing the world.
