Gabrielle Walker

Gabrielle Walker’s work helps enterprises to address some of our most pressing challenges – focusing on sustainability, climate change and the promise of new, innovative energy technologies. Gabrielle works at board level to understand emerging trends, challenge existing thinking and turn valuable ideas into action. She has worked with businesses in: oil and gas, utilities, renewables, finance & investment, retail, FMCG, risk management, certification and in professional services organisations.

Gabrielle takes a fresh look at how we approach climate change. She insists upon the need to reframe the narrative away from the idea of apocalypse and towards a positive vision of the new world we need to build. She has extensive experience creating and facilitating ‘safe-space’ between global leaders, from small round table discussions through to major international meetings.

Her experience as speaker and moderator is honed by her work on TV shows about our natural world including The Secret Life of Ice and Every Breath We Take for BBC 4, and she has appeared on a host of flagship news and current affairs programmes.

Gabrielle has served as Climate Change Editor at Nature and as Features Editor at New Scientist and has written for for many international publications, including The New York Times, The Economist, Prospect, The Wall Street Journal. She is co-author of the bestseller The Hot Topic on how to avoid global warming while still keeping the lights on, described by Al Gore as “a beacon of clarity” and by The Times as “a material gain for the axis of good”.  She is author of four books exploring the relationship between humans and our planet. Gabrielle has been published in more than 20 countries and translated into a dozen languages.

As well having also climbed trees in the Amazon rainforest, swum with piranhas, been sneezed on by a humpback whale, hooked lava out of a live volcano, and flown in zero gravity, Gabrielle describes herself as “ice addict” and has made more than a dozen trips to both poles.

Gabrielle Walker has a PhD from Cambridge University and has taught at both Cambridge and Princeton.
