Faisal Islam

Faisal Islam was the high profile Political Editor at Sky News for five years. He was formerly Economics Editor for Channel 4 News, and Economics Correspondent at The Observer newspaper. In late 2018 he was appointed to the job of Economics Editor for BBC News and took up the post in 2019 succeeding Kamal Ahmed.

Faisal Islam worked to expose the Icelandic banking crisis and he reported on the Lehman Brothers disaster from Wall Street. He’s investigated emerging economies in India and Singapore, PFI contracts in the UK, and how markets now trade weather.

He has interviewed just about everyone who’s important in politics and money. Faisal has been awarded a numerous Royal Television Society awards including that of Interview Of the Year in 2017 for his famous live interview of David Cameron.

A proud Mancunian, at the start of his career in London he was awarded the Wincott Award for Young Financial Journalist of the Year, and shortlisted for Young Journalist of the Year in the British Press Awards of 2001. Today he is one of the most recognised faces on British television, an accomplished and highly informed speaker and host.
