Susan ‘Zanny’ Minton Beddoes is the seventeenth editor and first female Editor-in-Chief at The Economist in more than one hundred and seventy years of its illustrious history.

Before The Economist Zanny Minton Beddoes served as a special advisor to the Minister of Finance in Poland followed by two years as an economist at the International Monetary Fund. She began working for the The Economist in 1994, as Emerging Markets Correspondent going on to serve as Business Affairs Editor and then Economics Editor.

Her appointment in 2015 to the top editorial post secured her position one of the most influential voices in current affairs journalism today. For Forbes Magazine Zanny Minton Beddoes is ‘one of the Most Powerful Women in the World. In the USA in 2017 Zanny won the Gerald Loeb Award in the Breaking News category for the work on Saudi Aramco, as well as a 2012 Loeb Award for economic journalism.
