Kevin Connelly

Kevin is a leading impressionist and after dinner speaker. He was one of the stars of BBC Two’s highly acclaimed Dead Ringers TV series as well as the original Radio 4 series (winner of Best Radio Comedy at the British Comedy Awards 2001). His impressions of public figures David Dimbleby, Gordon Brown and Fabio Capello are uncannily accurate.

His many credits include Sports Review of the Year, It’s Just Not Cricket with Rory Bremner, The Pavilion End and Double Take.

His impressions are not limited to sporting personalities and his extensive repertoire includes politicians and television characters. Richard Littlejohn wrote in his Sun column that Kevin did a “wickedly accurate impression of Tony Blair”.

Born in Middlesbrough, Kevin found fame while still at school, mimicking his fellow students and of course, his teachers. As his `turns’ became more popular, he gained confidence and included a few leading personalities into his repertoire.

Whilst working as a restaurant manager in his brother-in-law’s hotel near Thirsk, he would entertain his customers at the end of the evening to a small cameo piece, quite unrehearsed but which certainly delighted the clientele.

It was through this venue that someone asked him to speak at the Yorkshire CCC dinner. Engagements rolled on from there eventually he decided to give up his position in restaurant management to become a professional impressionist.

He has recorded numerous voiceovers for both television and radio. In 1997 he recorded the voice over for the highly acclaimed Channel Four drama/comedy on the running of a professional football club, Eleven Men Against Eleven. The film starred James Bolam and Timothy West.

Kevin is a member of the Lords Taverners and supports them whenever he can. His other charity work has included a double act with Rory Bremner, each of them doing an alternate voice.

Kevin’s many television credits include BBC’s Sports Review of 1993, Des O’Connor’s World Cup Party, The Full Motty, We’re On Our Way to Wembley, The Sports Show, It’s Just Not Cricket with Rory Bremner, Saint & Greavsie, Grandstand and The Pavilion End. He was given his own show on Tyne Tees Television and featured as part of Talk Radio’s World Cup team.
