A ‘Powerhouse in Journalism’, Ian King is two time winner of the British Journalist of the Year Award. Former Business and City editor at the Times and Business Editor at The Sun, Ian swapped the newsroom for the TV studio in 2014 where he replaced Jeff Randell as Sky News lead Business correspondent.
Ian has his finger on the pulse of news in the business and financial worlds, using his daily evening show to tackle the biggest stories live, challenging CEO’s and business leaders on the issues of the day. Ian’s skill in interviewing relates what are often complex highly stories by relating how the business actions are relevant to viewers at home. He has become the go-to-guy for public interest coverage.
Ian began his career as an analyst at HSBC before embarking on his journalism career at the Telegraph, going on to The Guardian then Mail on Sunday and later as Business and City Editor at the Times. He has seen the media change rapidly and speaks on the expectations for future growth in a multitude of markets. He is superbly informative about the impact of the digital age on news delivery, the news cycle, how the shelf life of exclusive stories has been cut from weeks to hours, and how social media has changed the way business responds to crisis.
Ian reports on the business of energy and currently a superb informer on the politics of oil and gas including important contemporary developments including Nord Stream 2.
