 Biography

Jason Mohammad has built a career around live television, quick thinking and connecting with audiences in the moment. Whether fronting BBC coverage of the World Cup and Olympic Games or hosting awards ceremonies, he brings the same combination of professionalism, warmth and humour that has made him now one of the UK’s most recognisable broadcasters.

Best known nationally as one of the faces of BBC One’s Final Score, Match of the Day and MOTD2, Jason has spent decades working at the heart of live broadcasting, where timing, composure and the ability to react instantly matter are vital skills. That experience is what makes him such an utterly compelling live host. He has spent his career in environments where the script runs out and instinct takes over – and where the best moments are the unplanned ones!

Born and raised in Cardiff, Jason joined BBC Wales in the late 1990s after studying Welsh and Politics at Swansea University followed by postgraduate training in Broadcast Journalism. What followed was a broadcasting career that took him from regional reporting in Wales to the some of the greatest live television events in the world today.

Speaking & Hosting

As an awards host, moderator and live presenter, Jason Mohammad is trusted by our clients because he combines the instincts of a live broadcaster with the ability to make the most formal room feel warm, energetic and completely alive. That quality was on full display when stepped in for us at very short notice to host the CIPR Excellence Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, delivering with the ease of someone for whom the unexpected is part of the job.

He is equally comfortable leading a high-profile awards ceremony, chairing conference discussions or conducting in-conversation interviews with sporting figures, business leaders and celebrities. It is also worth noting that Jason has been known to end an evening with a song. Audiences rarely expect it, which is why it works! Jason has hosted events and worked with organisations including UEFA, HP, Mercedes, Maserati, EE, Jaguar Land Rover, The Premier League, Aston Villa, Wrexham AFC and Cardiff City FC.

Broadcasting Career

Jason’s broadcasting career spans television, radio, sport and major national events. He has presented coverage of the Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups, Commonwealth Games, FA Cup Finals, the Six Nations and the Ryder Cup, while also fronting coverage for Channel 4 Sport and Welsh-language broadcaster S4C.

Alongside his sports broadcasting work, Jason is a key voice on BBC Radio 2, where he presents Good Morning Sunday with the Reverend Kate Bottley, as well as regularly hosting the station’s Early Breakfast Show. It is in these moments, hosting the Radio 2 coverage of the Oasis reunion stream, narrating BBC specials following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and commentating for Radio 2 during the King’s Coronation Concert at Windsor, that the quality Jason brings becomes obvious. These are broadcasts with true emotional weight for audiences, and the BBC repeatedly turns to Jason for them because his warmth and composure matter just as much as technical skill.

Jason’s wider broadcasting work includes presenting Crimewatch, making films for The One Show, and interviews ranging from Hollywood actors and music stars to world-class athletes and political figures. He also won Richard Osman’s House of Games on BBC Two, a fact he does not tire of mentioning! And Jason has appeared in Doctor Who, playing a television newsreader, a role, he says, that required very little acting.

Beyond Broadcasting

Alongside his broadcasting career, Jason is passionate about developing the next generation of media talent. He founded the Jason Mohammad Academy at Cardiff and Vale College to support and mentor aspiring broadcasters and journalists entering the industry. In 2024, he was appointed Pro Chancellor of Cardiff University in recognition of his contribution to broadcasting, media and Welsh public life.

Despite a career that now takes him between London, Salford and Cardiff, and regularly overseas, Jason remains proudly Cardiff born and bred, a fluent Welsh speaker and, of course, a lifelong supporter of his beloved Cardiff City FC!
