Ivor Cummins

Ivor Cummins has built a successful and influential career in corporate technical leadership, including by leading large worldwide teams in tackling complex problems.

Ivor completed his degree in Biochemical Engineering in 1990 before working to develop sophisticated new medical devices such as hemodialysis units and coronary stent assemblies. He qualified as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Project Management Professional (PMP), and completed an Innovation and Entrepreneurial Management Certificate with Stanford University.

Ivor’s talent lies in linking rigorous analysis of data to real-life problems and potential solutions, across different branches of science and technology. Since 2012 he has been intensively researching the root causes of modern chronic diseases with particular focus on heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

This has helped him identify important new ways for staying healthy: his 2018 book Eat Rich, Live Long, co-written with preventative medicine expert Dr Jeffry Gerber, shares with the wider public their trenchant conclusions on ‘a modern monster’: the modern carbohydrate-laden low-fat diet that promised us better health but instead drives many people towards obesity.

Ivor’s public lectures and interviews are available on YouTube, where he has over 200,000 subscribers and 16 million views. He has presented on heart disease and wider health themes to audiences around the world including in the UK, USA, Estonia, Israel, Switzerland and Germany. Many of Ivor’s ideas and writings are accessible via his fast-growing website.

Since 2020 Ivor has dedicated his problem-solving, analytical and biochemical expertise to deep and analysis of the Covid19 pandemic situation. He uses his formidable skills in analysing data to show how the pandemic has started and spread. He explores in a sharp, uncompromising but always level-headed way the official responses to explain what sort of policies have made a positive difference, and what policies may turn out to have been grave mistakes.
