Jamie Sparks is the world’s youngest double-ocean rower and a five-time world record holder. At the age of nineteen he set himself one of the most demanding sporting challenges possible – to row an ocean. He went on to accomplish this not once, but twice. By the age of twenty-two Jamie had crossed both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, becoming only the second person to ever complete two within one year.
On January 27th 2014 Jamie and his rowing partner became Guinness world record holders as the youngest tandem ocean rowers, crossing the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, to English Harbour in Antigua in the Caribbean. Just five months later, Jamie captained a four-man team to successfully break the Indian Ocean rowing speed record.
Jamie is currently a student at Bristol University completing his final year in Anthropology and Archaeology. He plans to continue in the world of adventure with his next expedition. As you would expect, it will again be a world first.
