One half of the Mr. and Mrs. Smith team, speaker Tamara Lohan took a business idea and turned it into one of the UK’s most successful ‘aspirational but still accessible’ short-stay accommodation brands. As the entrepreneur behind the ‘aspirational but still accessible’ travel accommodation brand Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Tamara Lohan is well-qualified to inspire creativity and business-thinking in those wanting to turn their ideas into reality. As the practical CTO of the company Tamara led the development team behind the site and booking engine, blog, and the app. The Mr & Mrs Smith brand was acquired in 2023 by Hyatt.

Not knowing that her future career would require the skills acquired by a seasoned traveler and linguist, Tamara grew up between Spain and the UK, and studied languages at Oxford University. She caught the travel bug on her way to Brazil for her first job to launch a new energy drink and began nurturing clever business ideas in her head. As her career progressed, Tamara worked in the marketing departments of major international brands including Swissair, Honda, Unilever and Ericsson, and honed her technical knowledge through data-driven projects, including the building of large CRM databases via online channels.

Tamara and co-founder James Lohan were each awarded the MBE for services to the British travel industry.
