Consultant gastro-intestinal surgeon Peter McDonald tells great stories of the medical world as an insider in today’s NHS. He’s a favourite as an after-dinner speaker, funny, intelligent, informative, and authentic.
Peter writes and broadcasts on medicine and health and issues facing our National Health Service today. He’s well known on BBC radio and writes for national newspapers in the UK. Peter published the novel A Trust in Conflict under nom de plume of Dr Slop and is the author of The Oxford Dictionary of Medical Quotations. A Ride in Middle England describes his long distance journey on horseback – also the subject of a documentary series on Sky TV.
Peter McDonald has also served as Honorary Editor of the Royal Society of Medicine and is a past Secretary of the Section of Surgery at the Royal Society of Medicine. Peter is Chairman of the Medical Staff Committee at Northwick Park and is Sub-Dean at St. Mark’s, a specialist bowel hospital in Harrow.
