MENUDr Adrian Parton is a celebrated Cambridge microbiologist, technology innovator, businessman and renowned philanthropist. His rapid detection systems have saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
Dr Parton’s career began in 1988 as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Tumour Virus Group at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in the Department of Pathology at the University of Cambridge. He went on to become Managing Director of Genera Technologies developing new technology for the very rapid detection of bacteria and parasites in drinking water – as MD of Matrix MicroScience his company innovated systems for similarly rapid detection of pathogens in food.
His experience is uniquely wide: as chairman of businesses in automation software, in packaging solutions, in wound care, and in responsible farming methods. From clever Cambridge startups to initiatives to help endangered birds to re-populate the countryside this is an extraordinarily broad life and experience.
Adrian is a Partner in Boundary Capital LLC which specialises in funding early stage technology businesses with EIS & SEIS opportunities for investors and he manages the Life Science investments for Boundary.
He is Chairman of two innovative start ups – Toxibact & AB-Polyblok working on two of the most challenging areas in medicine today, developing novel alternatives to antibiotics to overcome microbial resistance and a novel drug for the treatment and potential prevention of dementia diseases. These are areas where there has been little cutting edge research and limited progress, yet they remain some of the biggest threats to humankind and in the case of dementia threaten to over-run our health care systems.
Dr Parton is also Chairman of an automation control business, Objective Imaging Ltd, that has developed world leading scanners used for pathology and cancer screening and has units placed in the world’s most prestigious laboratories.
He is also Chairman of Inotec AMD Ltd a company that uses technology originally developed to generate oxygen for astronauts on SkyLab to deliver oxygen to difficult to heal wounds from a device the size of an iPhone that means patients can be mobile and access treatment 24/7. Patients who have been suffering with diabetic wounds for 18+ months are experiencing high levels of complete healing using the Natrox technology, and can avoid amputations and severe debilitating pain.
Entrepreneur, scientist, innovator, and businessman, Adrian Parton represents the very best of enterprise coming out of the UK today.
In 2011 Dr Adrian Parton was the awarded the MBE for services to microbiology.
