Steph McGovern

Stephanie McGovern has worked in financial journalism for over a decade. She rose to public prominence as business presenter for BBC Breakfast, which she has hosted from 2012. Her previous roles within the corporation have included researcher for BBC Tomorrow’s World, financial news producer for Today, and as lead producer for the main news bulletins at one, six and ten o’clock.

Whilst still a teenager, she won the title of Young Engineer for Britain for her work for Black & Decker, saving the company nearly a million pounds on product design.

The Steph Show aired daily on Channel 4 from 30th March 2020. Steph McGovern now hosts The Rest Is Money podcast with Robert Peston. In September 2024, McGovern announced that she had joined the cast of the, then, upcoming BBC comedy Smoggie Queens in her first acting role. [For the uninitiated a Smoggie is someone who comes from the town of Middlesbrough, or, indeed, wider Teesside].
