Marty Jopson

Dr Marty Jopson is a prop designer, an inventor and a reporter for the BBC’s The ONE Show. Cultivating the look of a traditional mad scientist, Marty has boundless enthusiasm for science and invention. His book The Science of Everyday Life examines the extraordinary science behind the mundane, such as why our fingers wrinkle when wet or why sheep don’t shrink in the rain.

As a performer, Marty’s live shows often involve fire, explosions and the creation of weird props. Marty and his ONE Show team hold several world records as a result of their experiments, including the world’s largest boomerang and most steps descended by a slinky.
