Speaker Camilla Cavendish is an award-winning journalist and was formerly Head of the No 10 Policy Unit under Prime Minister David Cameron.
Camilla Cavendish has contributed as a columnist to the Sunday Times and to the Financial Times. She appears regularly on TV and has presented radio programmes on such contemporary social topics as challenges of the age divide and the challenges of an aging society. She has won the Campaigning Journalist of the Year Award, the Wincott Senior Financial Journalist Award and was awarded the Paul Foot Award for Investigative Journalism for her work on family courts and sensitive child protection issues.
Camilla Cavendish led the UK government’s sugar tax legislation and the independent Cavendish Review of Nursing. She served as a Non-Executive Director of the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulatory body for social care services in England. She is chair of Frontline, a non-profit organisation recruiting graduates into social work.
As Baroness Cavendish she now sits in the House of Lords as an independent. Camilla Cavendish is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School researching into the challenges of fast changing demographics.
