Ruth Watson is best known to the public for her role in the Channel 5 television series The Hotel Inspector. The format of the documentary series focusses on Ruth advising small British hotels how to focus on quality, service and improve their offering, often to ensure their survival. Similar advice was offered to owners in the Channel 4 series Country House Rescue. Most recently she presented a series for Channel 4 called Ruth Watson Means Business.
In 1983, Ruth and her husband David bought Hintlesham Hall in Suffolk as a restaurant and cookery school which over six years they turned into a 33 room hotel, with 18 hole golf course. They also acquired the Fox and Goose Inn at Fressingfield, launching it as one of Britain’s first ever Gastropubs. In 1999, Ruth and her husband bought the Crown and Castle Hotel in Orford, which they have fully restored and run as a modern country house hotel.
Ruth has been food editor of the Daily Mail Weekend Magazine and she is the author of The Really Helpful Cookbook, The Slimming Book and Fat Girl Slim. Ruth’s cookbook Something for the Weekend is in its third edition.
